White, Non-Muslim Terrorists? What a Preposterous Idea!
A militia made up of a bunch of White guys in Alabama wanted to kill the Mexicans in a small town north of Birmingham.
Agents recovered 130 hand grenades, a grenade launcher, about 70 hand grenades rigged to be fired from a rifle, a machine gun, a short-barrel shotgun, 2,500 rounds of ammunition, explosives components, stolen fireworks and other items, said Jim Cavanaugh, regional head of the federal Bureau of Alcohol, Tobacco, Firearms and Explosives. – CNN
It was the largest weapons seizure down South in years, apparently.
And what are they charged with? Conspiring to make a firearm.
Maximum Sentence? 5 Years
All of this is enough to make the most positive, optimistic people go nuts. (Read: Sometimes I wonder how I maintain my own sanity).
Oh yeah, it’s people like Amy Goodman & Max Blumenthal:
“You’re going to see more vigilante action against immigrants. It’s unfortunate that the government is not treating this as the threat that it is. They’re not treating it as domestic terrorism. Wow… that’s outrageous! Conspiring to make a firearm? I knew someone who got interrogated by the FBI because her husband drove their 7-year-old daughter around to take pictures of monuments and buildings for a school project… But that’s different, I guess, because they’re BROWN!
